Help us to tackle today’s social issues through volunteering
TimeBank provides the infrastructure that supports thousands of people in the UK to give back to their communities. Our own projects focus on mentoring and youth volunteering, tackling big issues head on. We're always testing and piloting new ways of using volunteers to make a difference to society and our communities.
If you’d like to find out more about how you could support our work, please contact Fred Adams-Montantin or Alison Payne.
Our current projects aim to:
Help more people to find rewarding volunteering. We’re continuing to develop our Volurater, which pulls together volunteering opportunities from across the UK into one searchable database. It also allows volunteers to review their experiences, so others can get a first-hand idea of what it’s like to volunteer for a particular organisation. We run a dedicated helpdesk, giving expert advice and guidance to people who want to volunteer.
Increase digital participation. We help get people online and build their confidence in using computers and the internet. Our projects Parents First and Futures Together contribute directly to the government initiative, Race Online 2012, which aims to get everyone in the in the UK online by 2012.
Increase social inclusion. Through mentors, we support young people and ex-service men and women who are socially excluded because of mental health problems to feel part of their community. Take a look at our Back to Life project (young people) and Shoulder to Shoulder (ex-service men and women) to find out more.
Youth participation. Our Junction49 community, gets young people engaged in volunteering in their communities. We work with young people aged 14-25, including students and NEETs (not in education, employment or training) in schools, universities and youth groups across England.
