Christmas volunteering

Lots of charities are desperate for volunteers in the build up to Christmas - while companies are looking to do something alternative, unusual and much more fun than the average Christmas office do.

So we came up with the idea of Christmas Party volunteering - getting together with your workmates for a few hours volunteering in your community. We do it ourselves at TimeBank, packing crates to be sent to homeless shelters one year and serving lunch at an older people’s centre another.

It's great fun, a classic team-building exercise, and after our volunteering we all go out to the pub or a local restaurant to unwind and share our stories. We head home for Christmas feeling we’ve made a real difference to someone less fortunate than ourselves.

London Live TV talks to our CEO Helen about why Christmas volunteering is fun – and rewarding.

We can match you up to a volunteering opportunity that suits you and your team – however big or small

You’ll know you’ve made a difference – made a child’s eyes light up as they unwrap a gift, or brought some festive cheer to a lonely older person. You’ll have a great time and bond with your colleagues.

How does it work?

It’s a complete package and we do all the work: source the opportunity, undertake a risk assessment, write up a plan so you can brief your team - and we’ll be there on the day to support you. We’ll help you get the very best out of your Christmas volunteering and make sure it all runs smoothly.

Why you should do it

You’ll get to spend time with your colleagues out of the office, doing something incredible for your community. Your company will be seen as one which cares about its staff and about those less fortunate than yourselves this Christmas.

But don’t just take our word for it. Peter Muffett, CEO of film production company DTV says: "We loved Christmas volunteering with TimeBank.  It's easy to forget about other people's lives when you work in an office all day, but it's been a fantastic experience spending time with people who are lonely and isolated and seeing how much they appreciate your help. The perfect way to celebrate Christmas - especially with a hot toddy in the pub afterwards!"

How much does it cost?

Our rates for organising a great Christmas volunteering experience start at just £500 + VAT for a group of 10 or less.
