Lucky enough to speak another language or two? Volunteers are often used as interpreters or translators – sometimes for one-off projects.

• The London Refugee & International Tracing Services (LRITS) run by the Red Cross particularly welcome people with language skills.

• Prisoners Abroad ask volunteers to translate documents. They’re keen to hear from competent volunteer translators.
