We often get asked about volunteering by people studying psychology. It's often best to narrow down what you might do by thinking about the role you’d like to do. Things like being a mentor, offering advice on a helpline, or coaching a young person in need of support.

You also need to think about who’d you’d like to support, for example carers of people with dementia, young people in care, women fleeing domestic violence, people who’ve had a stroke.

You might find it easiest to contact your local hospice, hospital, care home, or rehabilitation clinic and ask them if they need any help.
