Loads of students volunteer. It’s a great opportunity to do it. The freedom of being a student allows you to find the time almost all year round to give a little back to the community. Often students run events for charity or do sponsored events like fun runs, but that is by no means the limit of what you can do.

Junction49 is a great way for students to get support to set up and deliver their own events, community projects and campaigns. If you’ve got an issue you want to tackle, the dedicated Junction49 helpdesk team will give you tailored advice and support to get your idea off the ground.

You might also find the following useful:

  • One group really pushing the boundaries is RAG, and there are lots of groups around the country.
  • Your student union should be able to help and point you in the right direction.
  • Don’t forget your local volunteer centre or local council for advice and ideas on volunteering in your local community.
  • Student Volunteering , run by Volunteering England, works with the whole student volunteering sector and coordinates Student Volunteering Week every February.
