In your community

Sue Ryder provides health and social care services in local communities. 8000 volunteers support its work to provide individualised, compassionate care services to people with end of life and long-term needs.

What can I do as a volunteer?

Sue Ryder says: "We don't see volunteering as a one-way street. We get your time and know-how but you won't walk away empty handed. You'll get new skills and experience. And you'll have a really good time along the way."

Here are just a few things you can do as a volunteer - at Christmas and throughout the year:

  • Support fundraising events
  • Work at one of the charity's shops
  • Gardening and maintenance at its care centres
  • Speaking at events
  • Provide complementary therapies
  • Spend time with someone in your community

How much time can I volunteer for?

Most roles are really flexible, so you can volunteer for as long as you want to.
