Matt Plen - Trustee since 2018

Matt Plen is the Chief Executive of Masorti Judaism, the umbrella organisation for a network of Jewish communities, whose work focuses on community development, leadership training, informal education and youth work.  Prior to taking up this role in 2012, he worked for over 20 years in the field of education - teaching and facilitation, teacher training, curriculum development and programme management - in the UK, Israel and the United States.  Matt has previously served as a trustee of London Citizens (now incorporated as part of Citizens UK, Britain's largest broad-based community organising network) and as a founding governor and learning committee chair at Alma Primary, a new Free School in north London.  He is also an active volunteer in his local Jewish community, New North London Synagogue.  Matt is currently completing a PhD in the philosophy of education at UCL-Institute of Education, where his research topic is Jewish Social Justice Education.
